Scrap the Boys April challenge

Oops one day to go, nearly to late for this great sketch at Scrap the Boys

I might have got slightly carried away this!! But it was one of those pages where everything went wrong LOL and I think that is was got me muddled.I made a huge mistake, one I couldn't cover up ..so I cut it down to a 81/2 by 11.
So yes its rather weird....

Mmm..it is very different....
I called it poser as James refused to get out of the tree until I took a photo of him!

Be ready for the first challenge at About a Girl on May 1st......it's a ripper!

Kraft it up April challenge

The challenge this month at  Kraft it up  is

This month we want to recycle some of that product packaging and use it on your layout, the only must have is that you use Kraft Cardstock or Kraft Patterned Paper!

Well I think I got rather carried away with this and it has been sitting on my desk with nothing stuck down for about 3 weeks! Every weekend James asks me why I haven't finished it and I say ...I don't know whether I like it...I think I upset him...so James this is for you!!! Afterall it is the memory that I want to record and this was a fun day!!!

All the paper here is packaging and I must admit I didn't realise how pretty and useful a lot of it is!
The string is also off those wonderful parcels of scrapbooking goodies...I don't throw away too much of anything!
The background is mainly what I am not sure of

And my journaling

Well there it is!!!

Thanks for looking

Scrap your Story journaling challenge

This week is journaling....at least 2 sentences at Scrap your Story
I think sometimes we forget how important journaling is , but when I look back on my pages from a few years ago..I am very thankful! Sometimes it is just a little thing that I had already forgotten...and it is a wow..yes I remember that now!!!

This layout isn't about a particular event...just my thoughts about my Gd now. Although this was the day before she was a flower girl and a beautiful one at that!!

This photo was taken by my daughter and I just love it!
I have printed it out black and white A4 size and cut it down to a 81/2 by 11
I have used my paint dabbers on the lawn and the flowers and the T-shirt

And my journaling
I just love this photo of Gemma..it shows her fantastic happy, cheeky personality.

Just remember the new challenge blog About A Girl has it's first sponsored challenge on May 1st..so check it out!

Scrap your Story stitching challenge

This week at Scrap your story the challenge is to incorporate stitching onto your layout...normally I love stitching, but if you saw the pile of jeans that I have to shorten ( beauty of being so short! ) on top of my sewing cabinet..you can understand why I cringed!! LOL

I couldn't face going anywhere near that sewing cabinet...I know I have to do them in the next few weeks, but I wasn't ready yet!
So I cheated and stamped stitching on..which I nearly forgot!!..mainly because I really am not sure whether I like this layout or not...anyway here it is

Most probably not the best PP for these pictures...but the old stubborn streak set in...and the rest is history!! LOL
A few close ups
These are actually layered butterflies..should have inked them!

The stitching is across the top of my jornalling box, down the bottom of page, middle and top and above bottom photo

I love watching Gemma dance..she puts the biggest smile on my face!!

123 April challenge

Gee I nearly missed out on this one over at the 123 challenge blog and it's a beauty!
The Challenge

And I had a few mishaps ...wasted a few papers!
But I am happy with the final result!

And it was a great afternoon..we had a picnic at the school playground, played on all the equipment and played in the sandpit..I took buckets and spoons and all different sized containers! And the weather was glorious.
A few closeups

I white washed behind the photo and fussy cut some strawberries (their treat instead of lollies!)
I decided to use some rubons, which I have had for ever..never really know where to put them..but I think these look okay
I added some more rubons around the title...wasn't sure about this. But there is one thing about rubons and that is once they're on..they are staying! But luckily I quite liked the effect
I am into arrows at the moment !!!

My DT reveal for About a Girl mini challenge

The first DT Reveal at About the Girls
This is a mini challenge before the sponsored challenge on May 1st and it is a lovely sketch

I have only used 2 photos as the third was too blurry...shame because it finished my story off beautifully

The third photo was of Gemma laughing with her head thrown back and purple ink all over her face and mouth!
Some close ups

I have had this paper for so long and I just love the colours. I think it is Bo Bunny and I have used both sides

Now I will tell you about my BIG mistake!
If you didn't notice my photo of the layout looks real crooked..well actually it isn't.
I have used Kaisercraft card, my first time and didn't realise until too late that it has got the bottom strip to cut off! Other cardstock that I usually use doesn't have  this!!! So next time I use this..I WILL remember. I was going to cut the bottom off, but then the bottom half would have looked too congested!

So see if you can do better than me LOL at this challenge..head over to About the Girls and take a look at the other design team members examples... great inspiration and why not enter to be in the running for a Rak

Everything is interesting to children at this age!

I made a little stick frame out of some bamboo skewers and painted them black

The flowers and the stars are from the Trinket track

Show us your Stuff April challenge

The challenge this month at Show us your stuff is to scrap 8.5 x 11

I have done a layout about my Grandson James
His birthday was in March and Dad bought him the Skylanders game and he also got given a few of the figures that you put on the portal from other family members. . Well of course now he wants more figures and Nanna (me) said he should be doing jobs around home to earn some money and save up for the next one.
Off he goes broom in hand..not dressed yet..all pumped to earn some money.
While he was sweeping, I got a jar so he could write on it and put his money in it....was very excited about this..trying to teach him to be patient and save.!!
Here it is

My handmade goodies are the two little jars I drew and cut out and the list of jobs ....I hope this is enough!!
Some close ups

Oh ..my handwriting is soo untidy. I use the excuse of having arthritis in my thumb joints which is so painful and writing is hard. I have to hold the pen in a awkward way, so I am going to have to learn to write all over again!! LOLI will try to be neater next time!!

Don't forget to check out the new blog About the girls
There will be a challenge up on April 21st..so get ready!!

Scrap Friends April sketch challenge

I found this challenge at Scrap Friends a bit challenging...I was looking at my photo thinking what to do and thought ah if I extend the branches of the tree in the pic it should work. I got carried away drawing a tree and most probably have taken the sketch a bit far LOL...you can be the judge...
The sketch

And my version..

I have added the red arrows and the blue ones and string to keep in align with the elements of the sketch.
Some close ups

I have used a Jenni Bowlin paint dabber for the tree canopy and some journalling tags from a swap at the The Boxx years ago.

Hope my entry is okay LOL
Thanks for looking

Scrap your story challenge #6 Springtime

This weeks challenge at Scrap your story is all about Spring.
Feels strange we are entering Autumn....but I thought I would do a layout of flowers in my garden....well used to be in my garden!
The water restrictions in the drought, stopped me from planting lots of flowers and now the price of water is so expensive...and it hasn't rained, so I am just keeping my roses alive and will be planting native shrubs ( not the same as masses of flowers) and succulents.

I made these table decorations from the flowers in my garden for my 50th b'day. I have used hubbies penny inks from his bottle collection for vases.
A few close ups

Looking at these I just want to go crazy and go outside and start watering and planting...but I am still paying off the last water bill....so it won't be happening!
